Texas Flood Turns Tragic for Wilson Family as Search for Mother and Son Continues

A Fourth of July weekend meant for family fun turned tragic for the Wilsons of Kingwood, Texas, when flash floods along the Guadalupe River near Kerrville swept away their camper. Amber and Jeff Wilson, along with their 12-year-old son Shiloh, were attending a youth rodeo when disaster struck. Jeff’s body was later recovered, while Amber and Shiloh remain missing. Amber’s brother, John Dustin Ledford, shared updates on social media, posting photos of the family and their truck. Search crews found the Wilsons’ truck in the floodwaters, though the camper was gone,

and some of Shiloh’s belongings were discovered 13 miles downstream. Each discovery offered a mix of hope and heartbreak. Jeff Wilson, a beloved teacher in the Humble Independent School District, was remembered as a mentor and positive force. Former students and colleagues held a prayer vigil, sharing memories of his dedication and kindness. Jason Wagner, a former student, said, “He was like family. He cared about every student as if we were his own.” The search for Amber and Shiloh continues, with authorities urging the public to follow verified updates and be cautious of misinformation. The tragedy has brought the community together, offering support through vigils, fundraisers, and volunteer efforts. While uncertainty remains, many hold onto hope for a miracle. The Wilsons’ story highlights the dangers of flash floods, the resilience of the human spirit, and the enduring impact of a life dedicated to others.
