Phil Collins, 74, shares tragic health update in rare interview

Phil Collins is in more pain than fans ever imagined.
The legendary Genesis frontman now admits he needs a live-in nurse around the clock, after years of surgeries, nerve damage, and kidney problems pushed his body to the brink. He can no longer drum, barely walks without help, and says everything.

Once the unstoppable heartbeat of Genesis, Phil Collins now moves through his days slowly, carefully, under the watchful eye of a 24-hour nurse. Five knee surgeries have left him with only one working knee; spinal and neck operations stole the feeling from his fingers and one foot. The man who once commanded stadiums now leans on crutches and a cane, his body marked by every mile of his career.

Yet behind the frailty, his honesty carries a different kind of power. He openly admits his drinking “messed up” his kidneys, and that the quiet after touring nearly destroyed him. Months in hospital forced him to confront his limits, but also to choose sobriety and acceptance. He can’t perform like before, and he may never return to the stage, but he refuses self-pity. Instead, he faces the twilight of his life with candor, resilience, and a hard-won peace.
